teamLab Biovortex Kyoto to Open Teahouse in a Sea of Light on November 20

A new tea house, Teahouse in a Sea of Light (一滴庵), is set to open at teamLab Biovortex Kyoto on Friday, November 20, 2026. The tea house is located within the artwork Sea of Solidified Light.

On display will be works such as Tea in Spontaneous Order, in which a whisked bowl of tea begins to glow with its own rhythm and sound its own tones.

Whisking a bowl of tea creates an artwork.

The tea interacts with the tea nearby and with the sea of light, each influencing the others, and a temporal structure forms across the entire artwork space. Visitors drink a part of the order that has taken shape, just as it is.

About teamLab Biovortex Kyoto

teamLab Biovortex Kyoto is Japan's largest teamLab museum, with the concept of "Universe of Existence, Universe of Perception."
