Terrace Dining TANGO in Shiba Koen, Tokyo, is bringing back its summer limited shaved ice from May 18 (Monday) to September 30 (Wednesday), 2026. This year's lineup has been significantly expanded, with the popular Kuma no Kakigori offered in two distinct varieties for the first time, and the total number of flavors growing from three to eight.
Background
With Japan experiencing record-breaking summers in recent years — and the Japan Meteorological Agency newly defining days reaching 40°C or above as "extreme heat days" in April 2026 — Terrace Dining TANGO has evolved its shaved ice menu to offer not just a way to cool down, but a full summer dessert experience that delights both visually and in flavor.
Highlights This Year
Kuma no Kakigori in Japanese and Western Styles

The much-loved Kuma no Kakigori, which draws many returning visitors each year, is now available in two flavors for the first time. In addition to the original Japanese-style version, the restaurant's pastry chef has developed a new Western-style variety.
8 Varieties with Monthly Rotating Flavors

Where previous years offered three shaved ice options, 2026 brings a total of eight varieties. The two Kuma no Kakigori flavors and the new "Purin à la Mode" are available throughout the season, joined by a different monthly special from May through September — keeping four flavors on the menu at any given time. Over the course of the season, eight varieties in total will appear.
Fluffy Ice Made Over 48 Hours

The ice is filtered over 48 hours before being slowly frozen to minimize impurities. The result is an exceptionally light, fine texture that melts smoothly on the tongue, making it a fitting dessert even after a full meal.
