Tokyu Stay Gotanda, located in Higashi-Gotanda, Shinagawa, Tokyo, began a full-scale renovation on May 11, 2026 (Monday). The hotel will remain closed during the entire renovation period, with a planned reopening in November 2026.
"Urban Sanctuary" — A New Design Concept
The renovation is guided by the design concept "Urban Sanctuary," reimagining the hotel as a "cultural retreat" where guests can feel a sense of nature and relaxation even amid the bustle of the city. The new interiors draw on JAPANDI aesthetics — a fusion of Japanese minimalism and Nordic simplicity — combining earthy tones, natural wood textures, and soft indirect lighting to create a calming environment suited to both on and off modes of a stay.

Art and Stay, Integrated Throughout
A defining feature of this renovation is the integration of art across the property. The hotel is collaborating with K ART Corp. — the same partner involved in the Tokyu Stay Nihonbashi renovation — on artwork and spatial decoration throughout the building.
The entrance will be reimagined as an art gallery open to the neighborhood, providing a space where art can be encountered as part of everyday life. Additionally, 18 "Art Rooms (tentative name)" are planned, created by two artists. These rooms aim to provide an immersive experience beyond simple art viewing, enriching the time guests spend in the city.

Connecting the Hotel to the Gotanda Neighborhood
The hotel plans to continue community initiatives that connect it to the surrounding Gotanda area. Through collaborations with local businesses and creators — including art exhibitions and workshops — the hotel aims to serve as a hub linking visitors to the culture and people of Gotanda.
