Tombow Pencil Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kita-ku, Tokyo; President: Junichi Fukushima) is expanding its ZOOM contemporary design pen series with five new colors for the oil-based ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil "ZOOM L2" (both priced at 3,520 yen including tax / 3,200 yen excluding tax), first released in 2023. The new colors will be available sequentially from February 10, 2026.

The new colors—Navy, Brown, Charcoal, Silver, and Gray—are based on suit color palettes. These five colors feature multiple layers of matte coating to enhance luminance and create a luxurious feel.
(The 2023 release included Matte Silver, Matte White, Matte Blue, Matte Gray, Matte Lavender, and Matte Full Black, bringing the total lineup to 11 colors.)
ZOOM L2 Body Design (Ballpoint Pen and Mechanical Pencil / Shaft Form)
The total length is approximately 140mm*. It's a compact knock-type pen designed for quick writing while carrying in a suit's chest pocket, diary, or notebook.
The seamless body (barrel) measures 108mm in length (excluding tip, knock button, and cap). The shaft diameter varies from 7.7mm to 10.0mm to 7.7mm in a streamlined shape. The shaft is beveled from three directions at approximately its center, creating a triangular form. The triangular ridges dissolve smoothly into the round shaft toward both ends. This creates a round shaft imbued with the stability of a triangular shaft—an elegant form has been achieved.

ZOOM L2 Body Texture (Shared / Finish)
The body surface is finished with soft-feel paint "Neorubasan™"*, providing a smooth texture similar to carefully tanned leather. In addition to the hardware advantages of being easy to hold and comfortable to write with, it also provides an emotional appeal that makes you want to keep touching it. The varied shaft shape and pleasant feel make this a practical design pen where "memo-taking and note-writing" become enjoyable.

ZOOM L2 Knock (Shared)
The knock button (protrusion length approximately 10mm) has a rare inverted cone shape. With a tip diameter of 4.5mm and a base diameter of 2.7mm, this unprecedented inverted cone toggle-switch-style shape is eye-catching. The seemingly delicate narrowing serves as the design's charm point, inviting the knock action. It also aims for a stylish appearance when inserted in a suit's chest pocket.
The inverted cone also functions as a "knob" for easy removal from pockets. The designer's "playful spirit" and the engineer's "meticulous craftsmanship" have created an unprecedented form and usability.
Specialized Refill with Stable Line Width (Ballpoint Pen)
Assuming a wide range of use scenarios such as notebooks and letters, this ultra-low-viscosity oil-based ink refill has been tuned specifically for the ZOOM L2. The ink discharge volume remains stable regardless of writing angle, maintaining a constant line width. The tip has been newly designed to ensure stable writing line width, smooth writing feel, and precision writing. It also reduces bleeding and show-through when writing in detail.
