About Transformers
Transformers is a franchise born from a Japanese toy concept by Takaratomy, built around the unique premise of robots that transform into everyday objects — "Robots in disguise." The robots, known as Cybertronians, have been battling across space in an expansive storyline since the toy line launched in the United States in 1984. The animated series became a hit in both the US and Japan, and a Hollywood film series produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Michael Bay began in 2007, becoming a global phenomenon. The seventh film in the live-action series, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, was released in August 2023, followed by the CGI film Transformers ONE, released simultaneously in Japan and the United States in September 2024.
As of February 2025, over 730 million Transformers toys have been sold across more than 130 countries and territories worldwide.
