Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a cross-media franchise developed by Cygames.
The story follows "Umamusume," characters who inherit the names and spirits of real racehorses, as they spend their school days with friends and trainers while aiming to conquer the Twinkle Series.
Since its debut, the franchise has expanded across games, anime, music, and manga adaptations.
WHISKY MEW is releasing two whiskies inspired by the Umamusume characters Dream Journey and Epiphaneia, with labels featuring bottles hand-selected by Hideo Yamaoka.
Dream Journey appears on the label of Glen Elgin 2009, distilled in June 2009. Its aroma evokes chocolate cake and blueberries with a faint meaty note that whets the appetite, unfolding into complex flavors of cocoa powder, honeyed yellow flowers, and citrus acidity. It carries the robust richness typical of an oloroso cask finish, while still showing the fruity, floral character of Speyside.
The other bottle, Aultmore 2013, distilled in October 2013, carries Epiphaneia's label. It offers aromas of dried fruit and ripe peach and plum, a pleasant sweetness with a gentle bitterness reminiscent of boiled azuki beans, and refreshing spice notes, with a port cask adding extra depth to its delicate Speyside malt character.
