Umeda Tsutaya Bookstore (梅田 蔦屋書店) on the 9th floor of LUCUA 1100 in Osaka is holding a pop-up event for the indoor footwear brand nui (ヌイ) from Thursday, October 1 to Saturday, October 31, 2026.
At the venue, visitors can try on nui and check how the shoes feel while choosing a book. The idea is to pick up a book that catches your eye while enjoying the light, comfortable feeling underfoot, and to spend a little more relaxed time in an ordinary bookstore. The event proposes "a relaxing time that begins with one pair and one book."
Hand-Sewn Indoor Footwear and a Craftsperson Demonstration
In addition to displaying, selling and offering try-ons of nui, the venue features a demonstration by a craftsperson who hand-sews each pair at its own factory in Wakayama. A single craftsperson finishes only seven pairs a day. Visitors can try the soft feel that only hand sewing produces, along with a fit that follows the shape of the foot.
nui also exhibited at Maison et Objet, held in Paris, France, in 2026. There, the brand presented its world as indoor footwear that combines the handwork of Japanese craftspeople with a design that blends into interiors.
Store-Exclusive Color and an Original Bookmark
A color available only at Umeda Tsutaya Bookstore will also be on sale. Visitors who try on nui receive an original suede bookmark designed to accompany reading time.
Try the shoes on, touch them and take a good look. Once you find a favorite pair, the next step is to find a favorite book. The event runs for one month only, from October 1, so it is a chance to spend a little more relaxed time than usual at Umeda Tsutaya Bookstore.
