Lifestyle Brand Tsugu Opens First Kansai Pop-Up Store at Umeda Tsutaya Bookstore

A pop-up store for the lifestyle brand Tsugu (継) will open on the food floor of Umeda Tsutaya Bookstore, inside LUCUA ILE in Osaka, running from August 7 (Friday) to September 13 (Sunday), 2026. It marks the brand's first appearance in the Kansai region.

Tsugu is a lifestyle brand created by Gidia's Creative & Branding Director Haru Ishiyama, born with the aim of passing Japan's traditional crafts and industries on to the next generation. Ishiyama collaborates with workshops and companies across the country, handling everything from brand strategy and art direction to product development and sales strategy.

For companies and workshops with strong technical skill and production capacity, the brand offers designs suited to modern interiors and everyday life without losing the character of the original craft. By developing products that draw on the strengths of both sides and sharing the resulting profits, Tsugu works as a platform to sustain and grow Japan's traditional crafts and industries.

Featured Products

The pop-up will display and sell the Tsugu bowl series, made in collaboration with Shirasagi Mokko, alongside other products born from collaborations with workshops across Japan.

The Tsugu bowl series comes in two designs, Hotaru (蛍) and Amanogawa (天の川). This pop-up also introduces two lacquered plates, Ritsu no Kaze (律ノ風) and Tsukishiro (月代), created through a collaboration between Shirasagi Mokko and Hakuichi. The plates use Yamanaka lacquerware — known for a vertical wood-grain cutting technique that brings out a beautiful grain pattern — finished with a design in Kanazawa gold leaf, a traditional craft passed down for 400 years.
