Onsen Villa Hanamomiji, a one-group-per-night exclusive villa in the Amanohashidate area of Kyoto operated by Nishigaki Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture; president: Shunpei Nishigaki), has added a new private sauna, SAUNA OCEAN RIISI, built with Japanese domestic wood. Standing alone on a hill overlooking Miyazu Bay, the villa is reserved for just one group a day, offering a fully private stay.
The villa accommodates up to 5 guests, while the sauna comfortably seats 6 — enough for the whole group to gather at once without waiting for a turn. The natural Silver Hot Spring and a private pool used as a cold plunge are also located within the villa's grounds, so guests can move between hot and cold without sharing space with other guests.

Background: Building a Sauna That Holds Its Heat on a Windy Hilltop
In adding the sauna, Onsen Villa Hanamomiji prioritized creating stable heat regardless of the season. Even on a hilltop exposed to sea breezes, the structure uses layered insulation to keep the room temperature from dropping — reaching its set temperature even in winter and regaining heat quickly after löyly.
Another priority was letting guests stay together throughout. The sauna's capacity of 6 exceeds the villa's guest capacity of 5, so there's no need to wait or take turns.
Private Sauna "SAUNA OCEAN RIISI"
A Cube-Shaped Sauna Cabin Built with Japanese Wood for High Insulation

The cube-shaped sauna cabin is built generously with Japanese domestic wood. A six-layer steel-clad roof and four-layer walls combine insulation with durability.
Inside, a two-tier bench layout lets guests relax comfortably. The temperature ranges from 80–90°C. The electric heater is made by HUUM, with an output of about 7.9kW, and stacks sauna stones vertically in a basket-style design that supports self-löyly.
Because the villa is reserved exclusively from check-in to check-out, guests can use the sauna as many times as they like without watching the clock.
Silver Hot Spring: A Semi-Open-Air "Beauty Bath" with a Silky Texture

The guest room is supplied with the natural Silver Hot Spring, known as a "beauty bath" for its silky, smooth texture. The semi-open-air tub comfortably fits one to two people, offering a place to warm back up after the sauna.
Private Pool: A Cold Plunge After the Sauna

The terrace includes a private pool located just steps from the sauna, doubling as a cold-water plunge. Miyazu Bay stretches out beyond the pool.
Outdoor Air Bath: Sea Breeze from Miyazu Bay on a Hilltop Terrace

After cooling down, guests can relax in chairs on the terrace to catch the breeze. Because the villa sits on a hill, the sea breeze from Miyazu Bay reaches the terrace directly. With the sauna, pool (cold plunge), outdoor air bath, and finally the Silver Hot Spring all located within the villa's grounds, the full hot-and-cold bathing cycle can be repeated without interruption, as many times as guests like.
About Onsen Villa Hanamomiji
Onsen Villa Hanamomiji is a single, stand-alone villa on a hill overlooking Miyazu Bay. Reserved for one group a day, guests can shape their stay entirely on their own terms.
Guest Rooms

The villa is reserved in full, with a capacity of 5 guests. Large windows facing the sea offer a view of Miyazu Bay that changes with the time of day. A kitchen is included, so guests can also cook for themselves. Combined with the adjoining sister villa "Yamaboshi," the two villas can also be booked together at the same time. Note: pets are not allowed at either Hanamomiji or Yamaboshi.
Dining

Meals are available in several styles. Guests can enjoy a glamping BBQ or the 海の京懐石 course featuring mountain and ocean ingredients in their room, dine at a partner restaurant, or bring their own food for a self-catered stay. The villa also has good access to the directly operated restaurants 天香 and 黒岬.
Marine Activities

Miyazu Bay in front of the villa offers cruiser-based marine activities. Guests can also travel out to the village of Ine, known for its funaya boathouses. After time on the water, guests can return directly to the villa's sauna, pool, and Silver Hot Spring.
