The Harry Potter film series traces Harry's growth and friendships alongside his fight, at the risk of his life, against the world of darkness. Central to that fight is "the Dark Arts" practiced by the Dark Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters who swore loyalty to him — a force that stands in Harry's way throughout the story. For this Halloween-limited special event, that world of the Dark Arts spreads across the entire studio tour. Beyond the Great Hall, where more than 100 jack-o'-lanterns float overhead, the Dark Mark appears throughout the venue and Death Eaters emerge. At the Ministry of Magic, visitors can see the studio tour's first-ever live performance, "Death Eater Demonstration," while Dementors appear in the Forbidden Forest, and even the Hogwarts Castle model at the tour's finale is overtaken by dark forces. Death Eaters Up Close: A First-Ever Live Performance, "Death Eater Demonstration"
During "DARK ARTS HALLOWEEN," the Ministry of Magic set hosts Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo's first-ever live performance, "Death Eater Demonstration." Choreographed and directed by Paul Harris, the choreographer behind the wand-combat action in the Harry Potter films, the performance combines ten wand positions based on the films' battle scenes with dance-like movement to convey the intimidating, unsettling presence unique to the Death Eaters. An Approximately 2-Meter-Tall Dementor Appears, Filling the Forbidden Forest with Fear
The Forbidden Forest on the Hogwarts grounds is a deep forest home to mystical magical creatures such as unicorns and centaurs. Students are forbidden from entering the area, which holds dangers of its own. During "DARK ARTS HALLOWEEN," a realistic, frightening Dementor emerges from within the forest, now ruled by the Dark Arts, as though chasing someone who has wandered in. With a skeletal frame roughly 2 meters tall, a mouth built only to drain a person's happiness, and a black hood draped over its form, it radiates a chilling sense of evil.
A Range of Food Experiences to Savor the Magical World of "the Dark Arts"
Highlights include the Halloween Burger, featuring striking purple buns inspired by the Dark Arts; the Forbidden Forest Pancake, inspired by the Dementors that wander the Forbidden Forest; the Dark Mark Milkshake, inspired by the Dark Mark; and Hagrid's Pumpkin Patch Eclair, inspired by the pumpkin patch at Hagrid's Hut.
