A new autumn flavor, "Yatsugatake Sweet Potato" (八ヶ岳のさつまいも), joins the lineup of Yatsugatake Butter Sandwiches (八ヶ岳バターサンド), the signature product of EMMA's FOOD&GROCERY in Chino City, Nagano Prefecture. It goes on sale on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The butter sandwiches are also now available online, so they can be enjoyed at home as well.
About the Yatsugatake Butter Sandwich
The Yatsugatake Butter Sandwich is an original EMMA's product created for the April 2026 opening of the EMMA's FOOD&GROCERY Chino Station Store. The brand describes it as a small gift to share from EMMA, with the deliciousness found at the foot of Yatsugatake packed into gentle butter cream.
The regular flavors are Plain and Fujimi Honey. Seasonal flavors made with local ingredients are also offered, such as Shinshu apple and rhubarb from Chino, a plant that grows only in cold climates. The sandwiches are a popular souvenir from the Yatsugatake area.
Autumn-Only "Yatsugatake Sweet Potato"
The new flavor is made with "Silk Sweet" sweet potatoes grown by a farmer in Chino City without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Silk Sweet is a variety with little fiber, a smooth texture, and plenty of sweetness. The sandwich has a light aroma of rum and the gentle, natural sweetness of sweet potato, a flavor that is available only in this season.
