Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel (1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa) will offer a limited-time dessert called "Eho Roll" in two varieties (strawberry and mango) at "Eye Marina," the gourmet and souvenir shop on the second floor, for four days only from January 31 (Saturday) to February 3 (Tuesday), 2026.
During Setsubun, eating ehomaki (lucky direction sushi roll) while facing the year's lucky direction is considered auspicious in Japanese tradition.
The hotel launched its dessert version of ehomaki, the "Eho Roll," in 2010, and it has since become a beloved seasonal specialty.
The hotel's Eho Roll features large domestic strawberries arranged end-to-end, wrapped together with gently sweet fresh cream in a moist sponge cake and a cocoa crepe meant to resemble nori seaweed. Like traditional ehomaki, it's sized for eating whole without cutting—so that good fortune isn't interrupted—making it enjoyable even for women and children.
This year, in addition to the classic strawberry version, a mango variety will also be available. Guests can enjoy the juicy flavor of the fruit inside, combined with the gentle sweetness of the fresh cream and the delicate texture of the sponge cake.
Each Eho Roll is carefully hand-rolled by the hotel's pastry chefs, making this an auspicious, high-quality seasonal dessert that "rolls in good fortune." It's recommended as a teatime treat or a special gift.
