Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel to Hold "HIMAWARI Week" — Special Ice Sculpture Display for the August 20 Opening Anniversary

Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel (1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa) is turning its lobby and entrance into a sunflower showcase for "HIMAWARI Week," running from August 5 (Wednesday) through August 26 (Wednesday), 2026.

The hotel holds a seasonal "Floral Week," using floral displays in the lobby and entrance to express its hospitality throughout the year. Every August, around the anniversary of its opening, the flowers turn to sunflowers for "HIMAWARI Week."

The theme carries a wish that the hotel will keep growing like a sunflower turning toward the sun, passing its sprouted seeds on to the next era, along with a hope that guests will feel cheerful and bright surrounded by a variety of summer-yellow sunflowers.

This year marks the hotel's 35th opening anniversary. On August 20 (Thursday), a special display combining sunflowers with an ice sculpture will appear in the first-floor lobby, giving visitors a moment of coolness during the height of summer.

Guests can enjoy the beautiful, ever-changing form of the ice sculpture alongside the vibrant sunflowers throughout the day. Chilled refreshments will also be available during daytime hours.

From August 19 (Wednesday) through August 23 (Sunday), the hotel's gourmet and souvenir shop, i MARINA, on the second floor, will sell a new cake, Cake Raffiné au Citron, for five days only.

Created by the hotel's pastry team, the cake pairs a moist pound cake infused with limoncello made from rare domestic brand lemons with house-made candied lemon peel. Its French name means "refined lemon cake," and its rich lemon aroma alongside a light, refreshing flavor make it well suited to summer.
