Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel (1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa) will be offering two types of premium fruit-themed shaved ice at the Lounge & Bar "Marine Blue" on the second floor. Crown Melon shaved ice launches on Monday, June 1, 2026, followed by Peach shaved ice on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with both available through Monday, August 31, 2026.

This summer's shaved ice lineup centers on two premium fruits: a juicy, aromatic melon and a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth peach. The ice itself is made from "pure ice" (junhyō) — deep natural spring water sourced from Shinshu, frozen slowly over more than 48 hours. With fewer impurities, it carries no off-flavors and allows the natural taste of each fruit to come through clearly.

Premium Shaved Ice "Crown Melon"

Available from June, the Crown Melon shaved ice is built around Shizuoka Crown Melon — often called the "king of muskmelons." Inside the Shinshu pure ice shaved ice, you'll find house-made vanilla ice cream with a rich, milky flavor, Crown Melon fruit flesh, and nata de coco. It's finished with a generous drizzle of house-made Crown Melon syrup.

The Crown Melon used is cultivated using a method called ichimoku-ikka* — concentrating all nutrients on a single fruit per tree — so each bite captures the full depth of the melon's aroma and sweetness.

*A cultivation method in which only one fruit per tree is grown to maturity, directing all of the plant's nutrients into that single fruit.

Premium Shaved Ice "Peach"

Premium Shaved Ice

New for this year, the Peach shaved ice features a cream sauce made from fresh cream, condensed milk, and diced peach, poured generously over the shaved ice. On top sits "Pêche" — a whole peach poached as a compote and filled with thick diplomat cream.

Inside the ice — drizzled with fresh peach syrup and smooth milk syrup — is a refreshing sour yogurt ice cream that pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the peach. This is a limited-quantity item made only during peak peach season.

The Lounge & Bar "Marine Blue" is an open lobby lounge with sweeping views of Yokohama Harbor. The space draws inspiration from a seaside resort, evoking the relaxed elegance of a luxury ocean liner. Flooded with natural light during the day and overlooking the Bay Bridge at night, the lounge offers a different ambiance with each visit.
