Night BBQ with Ocean Views – Beer Garden "Hamabeer!" Returns to Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel

The summer beer garden "Hamabeer!" is returning to the Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel (1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa). From July 2 to October 31, 2026, the event will be held on selected days, offering an outdoor evening BBQ experience with views of Yokohama Port from the hotel's first-floor "Ocean Terrace."

Guests can enjoy cold beers and grilled dishes while taking in the waterfront scenery — a summer tradition for the hotel that draws visitors year after year.

Spanish-Inspired Menu for 2026

This year's edition takes culinary inspiration from Spain. The cold starters include gazpacho — a chilled tomato-and-vegetable soup — served in two varieties, alongside pan con tomate, where homemade two-color baguettes are rubbed with ripe tomato and finished with olive oil and cheese. Also on the cold side: jamón serrano with picos, and a Spanish-style tortilla made with Kitaakari potatoes from Hokkaido and summer vegetables.

Caldoso: A Spanish Risotto to Finish at the Table

One of the signature dishes is caldoso — a Spanish-style broth risotto — served in a skillet that guests finish themselves on a dedicated grill at the table. The preparation involves placing pre-cooked rice into a rich tomato broth made with mussels and silver-stripe blaasop, then heating the skillet until the rice reaches the desired texture. Aioli infused with garlic is provided on the side for an optional flavor variation.

Calçots: A Catalan Grilling Experience

A new addition this year is calçots, a grilled spring onion dish from Catalonia. Fukaya green onions are grilled whole until charred on the outside, then the burnt outer layer is peeled away by hand (gloves provided) to reveal the tender white inner stalk. Following Catalan tradition, these are dipped in romesco sauce — a blend of red pepper, nuts, and vinegar — and eaten whole. The sauce pairs well with both beer and red wine.

BBQ Mains: Meat and Seafood

The hot BBQ lineup features domestic beef round, bone-in chicken leg confit, pork back ribs marinated in original spices, butterfly shrimp served with herb butter and lemon, turban shells, and seasonal vegetables including pumpkin and okra. The pork ribs are grilled in large cuts, while the shrimp can be enjoyed with garlic herb butter or simply with a squeeze of lemon.

Unlimited Drinks

The all-inclusive drink menu covers draft beer, red and white wine, whisky, shochu, lemon sour, and assorted cocktails (cassis, Campari, gin, vodka, rum). A standout option is the tornado beer, poured through a special server that creates a swirling vortex in the glass. Non-alcoholic options include non-alcoholic beer and soft drinks (cola, ginger ale, oolong tea, apple juice, pink grapefruit juice, orange juice), making the beer garden accessible to guests who do not drink alcohol.
