Yokumoku Museum in Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, will hold the hands-on workshop Picasso de Art "Let's Paint on Unglazed Pottery!" on December 6, 2026 (Sunday), as a program related to its special exhibition "Ceramics by Picasso, Miró, and Barceló — Love for Catalonia." The museum has introduced many of Pablo Picasso's ceramic works over the years. This program focuses on the decorated plates that appear throughout the exhibition, and participants take on the challenge of treating an unglazed plate as their canvas.
After viewing the exhibition together with a curator, participants paint on an unglazed plate to create an original piece of pottery. By linking the discoveries and ideas gained from viewing the works to their own expression, participants can experience the joy of creating that Picasso and his fellow artists pursued.
The finished pieces are fired at a specialist pottery workshop and handed over at a later date. The program lets visitors not only "see" works at an art museum but also "make" them, and even enjoy the time spent waiting for the finished piece.
