Nicolai Bergmann Flower School Holds "SEASON OF GLOW" Holiday Lessons Near Omotesando Station

The Nicolai Bergmann International School of Floristry, a flower school run by flower artist Nicolai Bergmann, will hold a variety of lessons from November to December on the theme "SEASON OF GLOW." Participants make works for the holiday season, including Christmas wreaths, candle arrangements, shimenawa (New Year's rope decorations), and New Year arrangements.

There is no enrollment fee, and lessons can be booked one at a time. That makes them easy to join for beginners who feel unsure, for those who want to try one lesson to see what the school is like, and for those who want to take only the lessons that interest them. The school is located on the second floor of the Nicolai Bergmann Flowers & Design Flagship Store, about a 3-minute walk from Omotesando Station, which makes it easy to get to. These lessons are available for a limited time.

Scarlet Christmas Wreath

Participants make a striking Christmas wreath that boldly uses the red and green of Christmas. Many materials are used, and the wreath is composed with attention to the character of each one, as well as to contrasts in color and differences in form. Along with the fresh scent of the greens and the festive feel of the red berries, the wreath gradually turns dry over time, which is part of its appeal. It can be displayed for a long time throughout the Christmas season.

Lightly Candle Garden

This special workshop uses plates from Lightly, a design studio in Melbourne, Australia. Using a plate that is not yet sold in Japan and was prepared specially for this workshop as the base, participants make a table arrangement that combines candles with plants that evoke Christmas. After enjoying its fresh look, participants can also enjoy the colors and textures changing over time as the arrangement turns dry. It offers a way to spend the holiday season alongside the arrangement.

The plate can be chosen from three colors.

MASU Arrangement

A colorful New Year arrangement made with preserved flowers, using the traditional Japanese "masu" (a square wooden box) as the container. Materials that symbolize the New Year, such as pine and berries, are layered onto brightly colored flowers, and mizuhiki (decorative Japanese cord) is added as a bold accent. The finished piece is designed to stand out even in a modern space. The lesson teaches the basics of preserved flowers, so beginners can also join.

My SHIMENAWA

A way to welcome the new year with a design of your own.

This is a modern shimenawa lesson in which materials that symbolize the new year, such as pine, nanten (heavenly bamboo), and rice ears, are combined with a variety of dried and natural materials.

Participants freely choose the materials they like from an abundant selection. Looking at the colors, textures, and forms of the materials, they find their own combination and finish a one-of-a-kind shimenawa. The lesson offers a chance to make a special shimenawa for welcoming the new year as the year comes to a close.

Morning Bouquet with Marron & Cassis Tea Smoothie

On a November morning, as autumn deepens and signs of winter begin to appear, participants make a morning bouquet in chic colors: soft beige and apricot layered with mauve, cassis, and deep bordeaux. The drink prepared for the lesson is NOMU's seasonal drink, the Marron & Cassis Tea Smoothie. The colors of the bouquet reflect the nuances of this smoothie, in which the color of marron blends with vivid cassis, which was the inspiration for the design. The lesson is a time to touch flowers, enjoy colors, and start the day comfortably at the flower school.

Date Saturday, November 14, 2026
Time 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM
Fee ¥9,900 (tax included)

More Lessons

For advanced students, there is a three-session master course that explores structure, materials, color, and spatial composition through making a Christmas tree, a Christmas wreath, and a holiday multi-mix arrangement. The lineup offers many lessons that can be chosen according to level and what participants want to make, from beginners to experienced students. Some lessons are taught by Nicolai Bergmann himself. Participants can enjoy drinks and sweets in a relaxed atmosphere while fully expressing their creativity and refreshing themselves.
