Limited-time stores featuring "Y's - IN REVERSE", a capsule collection themed on discharge printing (抜染), open in turn across Japan from November 4 (Wed), starting with Isetan Shinjuku (伊勢丹新宿店). Y's is the first brand created by Yohji Yamamoto (山本耀司) in 1972.
Instead of layering color, patterns are drawn by taking color away. The collection shows the kind of expression unique to discharge printing, which is born from the opposite of dyeing. It focuses on discharge printing, one of the traditional techniques Y's has used for many years, and looks at the character that emerges when color is removed.

Dot Pattern on Wool Gabardine
An ecru dot pattern appears on wool gabardine. The faded, uneven outlines left by discharge printing give the fabric a look that is not overly neat, along with a distinctive depth.
Shoulder Bag in Brush-Pattern Denim
A shoulder bag made from denim fabric with a brush pattern. It features a three-dimensional form created by tucks, and a sense of movement from the hand-painted brush pattern.
Stole with Bold Brush-Style Framing
A stole in which bold framing that looks as if drawn with a brush is expressed through discharge printing. It uses soft-to-the-touch cellulose lawn, and its linear geometric pattern shows a different look depending on how it is wrapped.
Roomy Coat with Brush Marks and Gradation
A coat with a roomy silhouette that makes use of brush marks on twill fabric, finished with a gradation. The traces of handwork create a distinctive depth. This coat is sold as an Isetan Shinjuku exclusive item.
