The Swiss-origin catchless earring brand Baqless has unveiled the third installment of its WA Collection, now available as of March 13, 2026 (Friday). Created in collaboration with a Japanese artist, the collection draws its inspiration from the traditional Japanese concept of wabi-sabi — a philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
From the slow decay of wood, to the texture of a cracked ceramic bowl, to the mist drifting over a still lake, the WA Collection reflects the quiet beauty found in things that change with the passage of time.
What Is Baqless?
Baqless is a "stress-free earring" jointly developed over eight years by a Paris-based jewelry designer and a long-established Swiss watch movement factory. Unlike traditional earrings, Baqless requires no back catch — instead, the post flips and slides to allow the wearer to adjust the fit freely. The name Baqless comes from "back-catchless," and the innovative structure has received patent protection.

The design eliminates two of the most common complaints with earrings — losing the back catch and snagging on hair or clothing. Because the earring stays securely in place once fitted, it's popular among those with busy daily routines. Parents with young children have also noted that the lack of a separate back piece removes the risk of accidental swallowing.
Baqless earrings use hypoallergenic materials suitable for sensitive skin, and the surface treatment is resistant to rust, allowing for long-term wear. Athletes and active users — including runners, golfers, surfers, and gym-goers — have praised the earrings for staying in place even during intense activity.

WA Collection 2026 Spring/Summer — New Lineup
The four new pieces launched on March 13 are each named after a traditional Japanese motif.

SUMIIRI II — ¥19,800 (tax included)

Sumiiri translates to "corner-filled." In Japan, corners have long been seen as places that ward off evil spirits, and surrounding all four sides was believed to symbolize protection and stability. SUMIIRI II was designed with the wish to protect what is precious and ensure lasting safety.
HISHIMON — ¥15,400 (tax included)

Hishimon means "diamond pattern." The interlocking diamond motif has long been used in kimono and decorative objects. The continuous, unbroken pattern of squares has traditionally symbolized prosperity of descendants and thriving endeavors.
HAMON II — ¥19,800 (tax included)

Hamon means "ripple." When a single drop falls onto a still surface, the resulting circles expand outward, eventually reaching far beyond the point of impact. The design captures a quiet yet powerful presence — delicate in form, yet unmistakably there.
KUMO III — ¥15,400 (tax included)

Kumo means "cloud." Continuing the KUMO series that began in the 2025 autumn/winter season, this design draws on the long tradition of cloud imagery in Japanese painting, crafts, and kimono. Beyond depicting beautiful scenery, clouds have long held emotional resonance for many people.
