January 20th marks Daikan, the coldest period of the year. At Uminonakamichi Seaside Park (Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), animals huddle together to stay warm during this chilly season. To help them, the park is hosting the "Capybara Fireplace" event.
During this event, capybaras native to South America, who aren't accustomed to cold weather, receive the warmth of a wood stove. When they notice the cozy heat from the fireplace, they slowly gather around it. Watching these adorable creatures warm themselves will surely warm your heart too.
