Cartier Shinsaibashi Boutique Opens in Osaka on November 6, 2026 as Western Japan's Largest Flagship

Cartier Shinsaibashi Boutique (カルティエ 心斎橋ブティック) opens on Friday, November 6, 2026, in Quartz Shinsaibashi (クオーツ心斎橋) in Osaka's Shinsaibashi district.

The boutique is the largest flagship store of the maison in western Japan, carrying Cartier's full range of categories, including high jewelry. It also houses a private space called the "Residence," the second in Japan after the Cartier Ginza 4-chome Boutique (銀座4丁目ブティック).

High Jewelry Model Show

To mark the opening, a high jewelry model show was held inside the boutique on Thursday, November 5, the day before opening. Actors Yui Sakuma (佐久間由衣) and Ayumu Nakajima (中島歩) took part as models, presenting high jewelry pieces that showcase the maison's savoir-faire.

Sakuma wore a high jewelry necklace and earrings in a peacock pattern, boldly set with emeralds and turquoise. Asked about the jewelry and the show, she said: "The moment I put it on, I could feel the value that only high jewelry has, on my skin. Pushed along by its overwhelming brilliance, I was able to carry out my role on the stage of the show."

Nakajima wore a brooch that realistically depicts a tiger in colored diamonds. Asked for his impressions of the new boutique, he said: "Japanese traditional crafts have been incorporated in various places throughout the boutique, and it made me appreciate their wonder once again. Seeing Japanese craftsmanship being carefully valued in such a luxurious space made me very happy and reassured."

About the Boutique

The boutique's facade and the interior of the third-floor Residence were designed by architect Yuko Nagayama (永山祐子), while the interiors of the first and second floors were handled by Barcelona-based g4 group. Together, they bring the maison's savoir-faire and an international sensibility into dialogue.

Facade

Nagayama's works include the Women's Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai (2025年大阪・関西万博 ウーマンズ パビリオン) and the facade design of Cartier Boutique Azabudai Hills (カルティエ ブティック 麻布台ヒルズ店). For the Shinsaibashi boutique, she drew inspiration from the city's history as a "city of water" (水都). The motif is the flowing lines of water drawn by the traditional tatewaku (立涌) pattern, overlaid with a delicate mesh that recalls guilloché, one of the maison's traditional techniques. The rippling glass creates shifting light and shadow like a water surface.

Interior

Osaka's vibrant energy, the rich pulse of nature, and traditional crafts resonate with the maison's refined forms. The layout leading up to the higher floors depicts a journey from vibrancy to stillness, creating a story in which Japanese sensibility and savoir-faire intersect.

1F

The art wall at the front was created by Lison de Caunes (リゾン・ドゥ・コーヌ), who holds the title of Maître d'Art (French Living National Treasure) in straw marquetry. It depicts the maison's emblem, the panther. An art wall in Nishijin-ori (西陣織), made as a tribute to savoir-faire and themed on the animals and plants that inspire the maison's creations, adds to the space, combining French and Japanese traditional crafts.

This floor permanently displays high jewelry, and also carries a wide range of collections including iconic jewelry, leather goods, and accessories. A private salon space is also available.

The wisteria is a traditional Japanese motif that was introduced to Europe in the late 19th century and appears in Cartier's historical creations, such as a brooch made in 1903. A staircase with delicate wisteria drawn by artisans' hands leads visitors from the bustle of the city to a quiet space. The ceiling is expressed with curved motifs reminiscent of a karesansui (枯山水) dry landscape garden, and wall art panels using Kanazawa leaf (金沢箔) give off a subtle glow, harmonizing with the maison's signature patterns and forms.

This floor offers watches, diamond creations, bridal, and fragrance. It also has a service counter for after-sales service of Cartier creations, as well as many private spaces.

3F: Residence

Higher up, a bright, continuous space opens out. The Residence on the top floor is a private space. It is the second boutique in Japan with a Residence, following the Ginza 4-chome Boutique.

The planting was handled by landscape designer Toshiya Ogino (荻野寿也), who created the garden at the Women's Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, co-exhibited by Cartier and enjoyed by visitors as a place to relax. The memory of "water" depicted on the facade is elevated into an interior that captures the Japanese view of nature in which all things circulate. Soft walls modeled on mountain ranges and designs reminiscent of budding plants appear throughout, as if reflecting the cycle in which water nourishes the earth and returns to nature.

The space also features a door with the panther emblem in wood marquetry, an open salon with a chandelier reminiscent of clouds floating in the sky, and an indoor terrace where Tajimi mosaic tiles and a yellow onyx bar counter sparkle in natural light. Richly expressive materials that reflect the craftsmanship of artisans from across Japan are used throughout, and delicate textures that change with the light create an elegant and warm space.
