Cheese Garden, a western sweets brand specializing in cheese-focused confections, is releasing two seasonal limited-edition products — "Matcha Cheese Baum (Cut)" and "Cheese Baum Assort (Plain & Matcha)" — at all Cheese Garden stores and its online shop starting Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The Cheese Baum is a baumkuchen that delivers the rich aroma of Camembert cheese along with a moist, fluffy texture. Since its debut in winter 2022, it has grown into one of Cheese Garden's most popular baked goods across all age groups. In November 2025, it received the "Grand Prix" — the highest honor — in the food and beverage category at the 93rd Japan Food Selection, hosted by the Japan Food Analyst Association.
A bite-sized, individually wrapped version called "Cheese Baum (Cut)" was introduced in spring 2023. Beginning in February 2025, the lineup expanded into seasonal flavors available only at specific times of year.
This time, Cheese Garden introduces its first Japanese-style flavor: the "Matcha Cheese Baum (Cut)." Its dough is made with domestic eggs and creamy Camembert, mixed with matcha and baked to a moist finish. Each bite brings together the deep umami of cheese and the rich, aromatic fragrance of matcha, leaving a lingering combination of cheese richness and matcha on the palate.
To accompany this launch, the "Cheese Baum Assort (Plain & Matcha)" is also available — a set pairing three pieces of the original Cheese Baum (Cut) with three pieces of the new Matcha Cheese Baum (Cut).
Individually wrapped for easy sharing, these treats are well-suited as a small gift for colleagues or friends, or as a personal indulgence during a relaxing break.
