Hotel Granvia Kyoto (Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto) will take reservations for five Christmas cakes at its 2nd-floor Pastry & Bakery Shop "Le Temps" from October 1 (Thursday) to December 15 (Tuesday), 2026.
This year's lineup is built around the appeal of its ingredients. It includes a shortcake and a tart made with Amaou strawberries, known for their rich sweetness, as well as cakes featuring Kyoto Tamba chestnuts and chocolate from France's Valrhona. The cakes suit family Christmas parties, time with someone special, or gifts.
The standout is the Kyoto Tamba Chestnut Bûche de Noël, sold for the first time this year in limited quantities. It brings together several textures, including a brûlée and a rich mousse that make the most of the deep flavor and gentle sweetness of Tamba chestnuts. A hojicha joconde made with tea from Marukyu Koyamaen, a long-established Kyoto tea house, and a feuilletine with hazelnuts and chocolate add a crisp accent. It is a good pick for chestnut lovers.
Each cake is finished one by one by the hotel's pastry chefs, with care taken to preserve the flavor of the ingredients.
Kyoto Tamba Chestnut Bûche de Noël

A rich brûlée, sweetened with sugarcane for a clean finish, is tucked inside a moist, smooth mousse of Kyoto Tamba chestnuts. Chopped chestnuts and salted caramel ganache mixed into the brûlée bring out a deeper flavor.
The base is layered with a hojicha joconde made with tea from Marukyu Koyamaen, a long-established Kyoto tea house, and a feuilletine that combines hazelnuts and chocolate. A light, crisp texture gives way to the lingering richness of Tamba chestnuts.
A Varied Lineup Including Amaou Strawberry Cakes
Amaou Strawberry Christmas Cake

A classic cake made with richly sweet Amaou strawberries and deeply flavored fresh cream. Amaou strawberries are also sandwiched in the moist, fine-textured sponge, so the flavor of the strawberries comes through fully.
Amaou Strawberry Christmas Tart

Custard cream is piped onto a crisp, fragrant tart shell and generously topped with Amaou strawberries. The tart pairs an eye-catching look with the sweet-tart taste of strawberries.
Noël Noir

A rich mousse made with Valrhona chocolate from France, using high-quality cacao, is paired with a black tea cream. The richness of the chocolate and the aroma of the tea blend into a flavor geared toward adults.
Irodoribako (Noël Version)

A two-tier box filled with assorted mini sweets, including a matcha Mont Blanc styled as a tree and a wreath tart. It is a colorful, easy-to-share option, and also suits anyone who wants to try a little of several flavors.
