Chopsticks Studio Asakusa, a new chopstick-making experience studio, opened in Tokyo's Asakusa on Sunday, July 5, 2026. The studio is run by Japan Guide Star, operated by Contents Like LLC, which offers guided tours for visitors to Japan as well as domestic experience tours.
The studio sits just a three-minute walk from Kaminarimon Gate at Sensoji Temple, making it an easy stop for anyone already exploring Asakusa.
Beyond the usual Sensoji Temple visit and food-stall hopping, the studio offers a new kind of Asakusa sightseeing spot: a comfortable, air-conditioned space to enjoy hands-on craftmaking, even in the middle of summer.
Three Highlights of a New Asakusa Date at Chopsticks Studio Asakusa
A One-of-a-Kind Matching Pair of Chopsticks
In the chopstick-making experience, visitors shave and polish a piece of wood they choose themselves, finishing it into chopsticks suited to their own taste. Making a set for each other, or carving in names or a commemorative message, turns the trip or the date into a matching pair of chopsticks that captures the memory in a physical form. Since the finished chopsticks can be taken home right away, they also bring the memory back to the everyday dinner table.
A Cool Indoor Break From Summer Heat and Rain
Asakusa is full of highlights like Sensoji Temple and Kaminarimon Gate, but long stretches of outdoor sightseeing in the summer sun and heat can be tiring. Chopsticks Studio Asakusa is an indoor experience space, so it offers an activity visitors can enjoy while cooling off in between sightseeing stops.
A One-Hour Experience That Fits Into a Gap in an Asakusa Day
Each session takes about one hour to complete. The studio is open year-round from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, making it easy to fit into a date around a walk through Asakusa, food-stall hopping, or before or after lunch. Along with advance reservations, the studio can also flexibly accommodate same-day requests to cool off or to change plans.
