JHAT Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Tokyo; CEO Akira Hirabayashi) is opening TABI Asakusa on Friday, September 18, 2026 — the 38th property in the hotel MONday Group and the second residence hotel under its new "TABI" brand.
The property features 58 rooms across seven room types designed to accommodate long stays, making it well suited for inbound travelers as well as families, groups, and small parties seeking a relaxed stay.
It brings together Japan's traditional "wa" aesthetic, the stillness of Zen, and the Edo-era "iki" spirit that still lives in Asakusa — fusing these essentials of Japanese culture with modern comfort for a stay unlike any other.
The Concept Behind TABI: Zen, Wa, and the Five Senses
A place to return to yourself, mid-journey
At the heart of TABI is Zen, a traditional Japanese philosophy. The brand values the sense of comfort inherent in the Zen spirit and carries it through into its spaces, service, and overall guest experience.
Quality over extravagance. Stillness over spectacle. Space over efficiency.
The Zen idea of paring away the unnecessary also resonates deeply with a sustainable society. Through this "aesthetics of subtraction," TABI expresses spirituality and sustainability as a single sense of beauty, creating value not found elsewhere — from minimal design free of excess ornamentation to reuse and recycling initiatives (some of which are detailed below). TABI creates spaces where environmental consideration and beauty exist in harmony.
TABI Asakusa sits in an area where traditional shitamachi charm rooted in "iki" meets excellent convenience, offering a place to unwind at the start and end of each day.
The hotel's interior design is built around the beauty of "wa," letting guests sense Japan's wa-inspired world through all five senses from the moment they step inside. Carefully selected art, warm hospitality, and thoughtfully functional spaces guide visitors into a calm, unhurried atmosphere.

Seven Room Types, All Over 38 Square Meters
Every room spans a spacious 38 to 86 square meters, with seven varied room types that include options with a private rooftop balcony. Each meticulously detailed, calm, and quiet space is designed to create a special experience that satisfies the senses.
SORA (宙) — "Sky" (86.92 sqm): A two-bedroom room with a private rooftop balcony.

SAKURA (桜) — "Cherry Blossom" (57.11 sqm)

HANA (花) — "Flower" (48.17 sqm)

KAZE (風) — "Wind" (41.52 to 41.69 sqm)

The room names draw on words like "kacho fugetsu" (flowers, birds, wind, and moon), a traditional Japanese phrase for the beauty of nature through the seasons and the aesthetic sensibility of appreciating it.
TABI's Policy: Sustainable Initiatives
The tableware in each room is Hasami ware, a long-standing pottery tradition from Nagasaki Prefecture, using pieces with individual character that emerge naturally during production. Guests are invited to enjoy the color variations, firing irregularities, and small imperfections as each piece's own expression.
The toothbrush handles are made from bioplastic containing more than 40% agricultural waste, such as straw — an eco-friendly toothbrush that also significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions during manufacturing.
Making the most of what can still be used is another policy TABI holds dear.
