WE LABO, a youth culture research project operated by WEGO, and TKDS have jointly developed CORONCIER (コロンシェ), a new sweets bouquet that pairs each month with a sweet phrase — bundling feelings into a gift experience.
The product draws on two trends growing among younger generations: the attachment to birth month colors and "oshi" (fandom) culture, and the desire to more casually convey everyday feelings like "thank you" and "good work." Recognizing these emotional needs through ongoing youth research, WE LABO partnered with TKDS — a company with expertise in translating emotion into food products — to create a gift sweet that gives form to these feelings.
The development process began with an in-depth analysis of young people's emotions around fandom, gift-giving habits, and birth month culture. Delicate feelings — such as color attachment observed in daily SNS behavior, and the shyness around expressing gratitude — were examined to understand what kind of experience would feel natural and emotionally resonant. Each financier's shape, color, and flavor was refined through testing that considered both sensory appeal and emotional response, including the excitement of holding one, the photogenic appearance, and the feelings it evokes when choosing one for someone special.
Each of the 12 months was then assigned a unique "sweet phrase" designed to gently move the emotions of both the giver and receiver. With colors, flavors, and words working together as a single experience, CORONCIER is designed not just as a sweet, but as an "experiential gift" — something to display, photograph, give, and taste.
