Courtyard by Marriott Kobe, a 381-room hotel on Kobe's Port Island, will open on Thursday, October 1, 2026, marking the Courtyard by Marriott brand's first entry into Port Island. The hotel takes its inspiration from Kobe's international character. It is a full renovation and rebrand of the existing Hotel Pearl City Kobe.
The rebrand is part of a strategic partnership between HMI Hotel Group and Marriott International, under which seven hotels, including Courtyard by Marriott Kobe, are due to join Marriott International's global portfolio. It follows the rebranding of Kobe Marriott Hotel and Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel.

Comfort and Connection on Port Island
Courtyard by Marriott Kobe offers a comfortable, convenient stay for guests visiting Kobe for business, events, sightseeing, and more. The hotel is close to the Kobe Convention Center and within walking distance of Nakafuto Station on the Port Liner. It also has good access to Kobe Airport and to Sannomiya, the center of the city's transportation and commerce, and from Sannomiya it is easy to reach Shin-Kobe Station, where the Shinkansen stops. The hotel is intended as a new base for a stay in Kobe, for both business and leisure.
Dining
The hotel has two dining venues to suit different moments of a stay.
- Prashanti: An all-day dining restaurant with a relaxed, smart-casual atmosphere, serving a variety of international dishes from morning to night.
- Topaz: Located on the 4th floor, it serves a buffet-style breakfast every morning.
The open, airy lobby lounge and bar can be used in different ways, such as meeting over coffee or enjoying evening drink time.
Fitness and Wellness
A fitness center that is free to use 24 hours a day lets guests keep up their usual wellness routines while traveling. It is equipped with cardio machines and strength-training equipment, and can be used to fit each guest's lifestyle, whether before a busy day of business or after a walk around Kobe.
Meetings and Events
The hotel has seven venues offering a total of 1,387 sqm of event space. The spaces can be used flexibly for meetings, conferences, training sessions, social gatherings, weddings, and more, depending on the purpose and number of guests.
- Grand Pearl: The largest venue at 326 sqm, accommodating up to 150 people in theater style.
- Pearl Room: Accommodates up to 130 people, and the hotel also has smaller meeting rooms for workshops and breakout sessions.
- Topaz West: Accommodates up to 150 people in reception style and up to 100 people in banquet style.
Design Concept: "Voyages"
The hotel's design draws on the history of Kobe, which has developed as one of Japan's leading port cities since its port opened in the Meiji era. People, cultures, and ideas that arrived across the sea came together in Kobe and nurtured its distinctive international character. The space expresses this background through the concept of "Voyages."
The simple, contemporary interior is built on warm wood tones and neutral colors, layered with a variety of textures. Artwork throughout the hotel evokes Kobe's historic ties to the sea, its cityscape, and the blending of Japanese and Western cultures. The space, which expresses the encounters and discoveries that happen along a journey, is meant to be a place where guests can pause, connect with others, and set out for their next destination.
The hotel aims to be a place where experiencing Kobe's history and culture becomes a lasting memory of the stay and leads on to the next journey.
