Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Station Details Lobby, Rooms and Dining Ahead of November 16, 2026 Opening

Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Station will open on Monday, November 16, 2026. In Kyoto, where tradition and culture nurtured over a long history harmonize with modern sensibilities, the hotel aims to offer a stay that lets guests feel connected to the region, its culture, and its people. With excellent access from Kyoto Station and meals that let guests enjoy local food, it hopes to become a new "base" for trips to Kyoto.

The hotel has now shared an overview of its facilities and services.

Lobby (1st Floor)

The lobby is a warm, lively welcoming space where conversation can arise naturally while guests experience Kyoto's culture. Built around the beauty of Japanese architecture, the space is furnished with crafts and art. It uses "Miyako Somaki" timber from Kyoto City, making use of local resources while showing consideration for the environment.

  • The hotel adopts "seated check-in," designed to ease guests' travel fatigue and to let staff, who face less strain, concentrate on attentive service.
  • In addition to luggage storage at the front desk, self-service lockers that can hold small suitcases are available.

Guest Rooms (2nd to 9th Floors)

Larger Guest Room (Twin)

The rooms follow the theme of a "machiya-style atelier." Wood and lattice recall the look of a machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse), creating a modern, calm private space with the feel of Japanese architecture.

The wall behind each bed serves as an accent, artistically depicting the grand mountains that surround Kyoto and the wide sky, in the hope that guests can slowly recall their travel memories.

Suite Room (Twin)

The hotel has 270 rooms in 10 types, from guest rooms of approx. 22 sqm to suites of approx. 66 sqm. Besides plush bedding and a flexible workspace, every room is equipped with a coffee machine, a water server, a TV of 55 inches or larger, and a Bluetooth speaker. The window sashes use recycled aluminum from Tokaido Shinkansen cars, in consideration of the environment.

Fitness Center (2nd Floor)

Fitness center

Hotel guests can use the fitness center free of charge, 24 hours a day. It is equipped with treadmills, bikes, dumbbells, balance balls, and dual adjustable pulleys, among other equipment, so guests can do cardio, weight training, or stretching to suit their goals and how they feel that day.

All-Day Dining, Cafe & Bar "The 8th Gate" (1st Floor)

Breakfast buffet

Bistro

"The 8th Gate" is a dining, cafe and bar area with 150 seats in total, where guests can feel art alongside their meals and experience Kyoto with all five senses.

The name reflects the hotel's location at the Hachijo exit of Kyoto Station and the fact that it is the eighth hotel operated by JR Central Hotels, which led to the choice of "eight" (八, hachi), a number considered auspicious because it widens toward the end. "Gate" expresses the wish for the venue to be a place where encounters with Kyoto's charms and new discoveries begin.

All-day dining

  • All-day dining: Menus using ingredients unique to Kyoto are served to suit each time of day. These include a breakfast buffet supervised by Yukako Hayashi (Professor, Kyoto University; Technical Advisor, JR Central Hotels) and a Kyoto-style French bistro dinner.
  • Cafe & bar: By day it is a cafe where guests can enjoy light meals and coffee. At night it becomes a bar with live music such as piano performances.
  • Drinks at the bar: The bar serves craft beer brewed at "Rock Song Oh! (ろくそんのう) Brewery," a brewery run under the nearby Tokaido Shinkansen viaduct by ジェイアール東海関西開発株式会社, a group company, along with sake from local breweries.
