Three properties under the Comfort Hotel network are scheduled to be rebranded as Comfort Hotel ERA in June 2026. Comfort Hotel Kyoto Horikawa Gojo will transition on June 22 (Monday), Comfort Hotel Nagoya Meieki Minami on June 24 (Wednesday), and Comfort Hotel Ishigaki Island on June 26 (Friday).
The rebranding reflects a shift in traveler expectations—rather than simply providing a place to sleep, the hotels aim to make the stay itself an enjoyable part of the trip. Through Comfort Library Cafes, locally sourced breakfasts, and regionally themed interiors, each property is designed to let guests experience the distinct character of its destination.

About the Comfort Hotel ERA Brand

Comfort Hotel ERA launched in September 2023 as a new positioning within the Comfort Hotel network, aimed at travelers who want to enrich their personal travel time—not just business stays. The brand focuses on elevating time spent inside the hotel into a memorable part of the journey itself, giving guests a base to travel on their own terms.
The brand name "ERA" reflects the meaning of a "time period" and also represents "Excite," "Refresh," and "Active"—capturing the aspiration to deliver exciting travel experiences, comfortable stays, and the energy for guests to lead active lives.
Future Plans
Choice Hotels Japan continues to work on enhancing its Comfort Hotel properties nationwide to better reflect local culture and regional character. The rebranding of these three hotels is part of that ongoing effort. Comfort Hotel ERA will continue developing as a brand that supports a wide range of travel styles—from sightseeing and leisure trips to group and weekend getaways—while helping guests experience travel in their own way.
