Enjoy 16 Sweets from 14 Countries at Conrad Osaka's Summer Buffet "Craft Your FREAK SHAKES"

Conrad Osaka, located in the Nakanoshima area of Osaka, is hosting a summer-limited sweets buffet called "Craft Your FREAK SHAKES" World Hit Sweets Buffet from May 29 to September 13, 2026, on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

The buffet showcases 16 types of sweets hand-picked by Conrad Osaka's pastry team from 20 SNS-popular sweets representing 14 countries. The lineup spans classic European confections, trendy American creations, and local favorites from Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Oceania — all chosen for their visual appeal as well as their taste.

DIY Freakshake Station

DIY Sweets – Freakshake

One of the highlights is the DIY corner featuring Freakshakes — the Melbourne, Australia-born sensation that took social media by storm with milkshakes topped with cookies, candy, and colorful decorations. Guests select a pre-decorated glass of their choice, after which a chef pours the shake from an open kitchen and finishes it with whipped cream. From there, visitors can freely customize their glass by piling on decoration toppings and sweets from the buffet spread.

Rare European Sweets

Runeberg Tart (center), Kremna Rezina (right)

Finland's Runeberg Tart is a traditional winter confection named after the beloved Finnish poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg. Crushed gingerbread is mixed into the batter before baking, and a raspberry jam topping is added to finish. The rich spice aroma and sweet-tart jam create a harmonious pairing — a charming little treat that is still rarely encountered in Japan.

Slovenia's Kremna Rezina — also enjoyed in neighboring Croatia and Austria — is a classic Central European dessert featuring two layers of rich, bouncy custard cream and light whipped cream sandwiched between crispy puff pastry. Another treat that is hard to come by in Japan, it offers a delightful textural contrast.

Berliner Pfannkuchen

Germany's Berliner Pfannkuchen was once an iconic carnival-season treat and is now available year-round at bakeries throughout Germany. These round, handheld pastries are filled with sweet-tart jam and have a characteristically light, fluffy texture.

Trendy American Sweets

Cronut

The Cronut, born in New York and devised by a French pastry chef, is made by deep-frying croissant dough in the style of a doughnut. The result combines the airy, flaky texture of a croissant with the satisfying chewiness of a doughnut.

Croffle

From Los Angeles comes the Korean-origin Croffle — croissant dough cooked in a waffle maker to achieve a perfectly crispy exterior and pillowy interior. In L.A., the croffle has evolved into a dessert plate topped with fruit and ice cream, taking on a distinct local character.
