FamilyMart's original apparel label "Convenience Wear" (コンビニエンスウェア), developed in collaboration with fashion designer Hiroshi Ochiai, is rolling out a new summer collection starting Friday, May 29, 2026, at approximately 16,400 FamilyMart stores across Japan. This season's theme is Mexico — with vivid colors, bold border patterns, and playfully named colorways inspired by Mexican culture. A brand-new "Functional T-Shirt" also makes its debut, designed specifically to stay comfortable during Japan's notoriously hot and humid summers.
Mexico-Inspired Colors for Summer
The summer collection channels the energy of Mexican culture through vivid, positive hues and traditional textile-inspired patterns such as border prints. The season's palette carries over into Line Socks, Imabari Towel Handkerchiefs, and Face Towels, while the Heavy Weight Polo Shirt — which spans from early summer to autumn — rounds out the lineup.
New Item: Functional T-Shirt
Making its first appearance this year is the "Functional T-Shirt," crafted for sweaty, active situations. The shirt uses seamless knit construction to eliminate underarm seams, and features mesh panels placed at areas prone to heavy perspiration — keeping the fabric from clinging to the body. The outer yarn is a moisture-wicking nylon-polyester blend, while the inner layer uses soft nylon with good thermal conductivity.
Fashion designer Hiroshi Ochiai commented: "With another scorching summer ahead, we've launched the Functional T-Shirt with the hope of making everyday life more comfortable for everyone. As the Convenience Wear lineup continues to grow, we want to keep taking on new challenges and help build a culture where people buy clothing at FamilyMart."
Watch Re-Release Planned for Autumn
The "Wristwatch" — introduced as a flagship item marking the brand's fifth anniversary — received an enthusiastic response after its April release, with many requests for a restock. A re-release is currently planned for autumn.
