FamilyMart Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: 小谷建夫) will mark its 45th anniversary in September 2026. As part of its "Next FamilyMart Project," an effort to explore new possibilities for the convenience store, the company opened its first flagship store, FAMIMA PARK AZABUDAI, in Tokyo's Azabudai area. To coincide with the opening, FAMIMA-related merchandise — including goods featuring the official FAMIMA character — goes on sale in limited quantities at approximately 16,400 FamilyMart stores nationwide starting Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
A Record-Breaking Debut in Azabudai
FamilyMart's first flagship store, FAMIMA PARK AZABUDAI, opened in Tokyo's Azabudai area on Friday, July 10, 2026, and recorded the highest single-day sales in FamilyMart's history on opening day. The store drew large crowds of visitors from Japan and abroad. Developed together with creative director NIGO®, it offers a "convenience store experience" distinct from a typical convenience store, and comments on social media — including "Is this really a FamilyMart?!" and "I really want to go" — have come in from both Japan and overseas.
Character Goods and Everyday Items Now Available Nationwide
Alongside the flagship store's opening, an official FAMIMA character was created under the direction of creative director NIGO®. Goods featuring the character — along with "convenience wear" apparel and other FAMIMA-branded items that first launched exclusively at the flagship store — are now going on sale in limited quantities at FamilyMart stores across the country. The "Line Socks FAMIMA" have been especially popular, with the flagship store selling a combined total of 2,000 pairs of the white 22–25cm and 25–28cm Line Socks FAMIMA and the white 13–19cm and 19–22cm Kids Socks FAMIMA within three days of launch.
