About the Nasu Otawara Camp Area

Located in Otawara, Tochigi, the Nasu Otawara Camp Area features plots set within natural woodland — a landscape shaped with minimal development, preserving the forest's original character.

The area was once noted as a scenic resort district during the Showa era. Wide-open, unspoiled scenery remains, giving the site a wild, frontier feel. Plots are mostly on flat ground, but the surrounding nature is dense and untouched, offering an adventurous, "pioneer-style" experience where renters take an active role in shaping their space.

Each plot varies in tree density and landscape. Some are enclosed by quiet stands of trees; others open up to wide sky views. The natural energy of the environment is a defining feature — at night, city light barely reaches, making for a sky full of stars, while mornings are filled with birdsong.

Whether spending time in quiet solitude, working alongside nature, or gathering around a fire with friends, each renter can use the space in their own way. The area is particularly suited to those who want to shape their experience from scratch, engaging with nature on their own terms rather than arriving at a pre-built facility.

Surrounding Area

While the site offers a sense of distance from city life, the surrounding Nasu area is home to numerous tourist facilities, hot springs, and farms. The combination of natural immersion and accessible regional attractions makes the area appealing for those looking to establish a second base in the countryside.

This area sits on a vast former villa development from the Showa era. The landscape is flat but richly forested — broad-leafed trees casting soft dappled light, surrounded by the deep green of conifers. There's room to explore and develop your own space as part of the experience.
Wind through the trees, the scent of the forest, birdsong. We hope visitors will treasure the time spent simply being in the forest — gathered around a fire, looking up at the stars.
We'd love for many people to help shape this into a place where wild camping in Nasu's nature can truly be enjoyed.
