Bihoro Midori no Mura (美幌みどりの村), a multi-use forest recreation facility in Bihoro, Hokkaido, is starting to offer overnight stays in four container houses. The lodging is run by Punctual Co., Ltd. (株式会社パンクチュアル), a regional trading company that serves as the facility's designated manager, and it is the company's first time operating an accommodation facility. The official opening is planned for next spring, and from Saturday, October 10 to Sunday, November 15, 2026, the houses will accept guests as a pre-opening.
Overnight Stays to Extend Visits Around Bihoro
Bihoro, in the Okhotsk region of eastern Hokkaido, sees visitors concentrate at Bihoro Pass, the center of the town's tourism. However, visits vary widely by season and time of day, and trips tend to be day trips, which makes it hard to extend stays, encourage sightseeing around the area, or grow local spending. To create stay plans centered on Bihoro Midori no Mura, container houses have been set up as lodging.
The facility is about 2.5 km from Bihoro Station, making it easy to reach. Surrounded by greenery, it offers a relaxed setting for spending time.
An All-Inclusive Stay With BBQ, Breakfast, and Sauna
The container houses operate as an "all-inclusive" facility that bundles lodging, meals, and sauna. The rate includes a BBQ dinner using Hokkaido ingredients, breakfast, a minibar stocked with alcoholic and soft drinks, and a private sauna for 90 minutes.

Please note the following.
- These are special, limited-time prices, as the pre-opening is a monitor recruitment.
- A separate lodging tax of ¥100 per night is required. Preschool children who co-sleep are not subject to the lodging tax.
- The rate includes a private sauna (90 minutes), a BBQ dinner using Hokkaido ingredients, breakfast, and a free minibar with alcoholic and soft drinks.
- The pre-opening is a period for finding improvements to the facility and services ahead of next spring's opening, based on guests' feedback. For this reason, guests must agree to both a survey (about 5 minutes) and an interview of about 10 minutes after check-out as a condition of staying.

- Access: About 5 minutes by car from JR Bihoro Station. From the Kitami direction, follow National Route 39 toward Bihoro and Abashiri, turn right at the intersection before Midori Bridge (みどり橋), and continue for about 1 km.
About Bihoro
Bihoro is a town in eastern Hokkaido, located about 30 km inland from the Sea of Okhotsk, with an area of 438.41 square kilometers. About 60 rivers of various sizes, including the Bihoro River, flow through the town. The name "Bihoro" comes from the Ainu word "Pi-poro" (much water, a great place), which describes a place where many clear streams meet and the volume of water is abundant.
Memanbetsu Airport, the air gateway to the Okhotsk region, is only about 15 minutes away by car. Bihoro Pass (elevation 525 meters), with views of places such as Lake Kussharo, Japan's largest caldera lake, draws many visitors every year. The town is also known as a "compact city," with about 80% of residents living within a 2 km radius.
