GranSta Tokyo's Underground Marunouchi Area to Reopen in Mid-September 2026

GranSta Tokyo's "Marunouchi Slope Area," which closed for renovation in January 2026, is set to reopen in mid-September 2026 under a new name: the "Underground Marunouchi Ticket Gate Area" (地下 丸の内改札内エリア). After approximately 8 months of construction, the space will launch with 26 shops — 10 new brands, 11 renovated or rebranded shops from before the renovation, and 12 Tokyo Station exclusive brands.

One of the key changes in this renovation is the consolidation of the two previous sections — a sweets area and a goods area — into a single unified space. The area name has also changed from "Marunouchi Slope Area" to "Underground Marunouchi Ticket Gate Area," marking the first major renovation of this section in approximately 10 years.

Concept

FAV ZAKA Concept

Under the concept "FAV ZAKA" (Favorite MARUNOUCHIZAKA), the area is designed to offer something extra for daily routines — a place people want to visit repeatedly, where favorites gather for a new way to enjoy Tokyo Station. Food and lifestyle goods are mixed across four zones to encourage exploration on every visit.

POINT 1: Four Zones for Easy Navigation

4-Zone Layout

This area of GranSta Tokyo is known for attracting a high proportion of regular daily commuters. By mixing food and lifestyle goods across four distinct zones, the space is designed to be easy to navigate and enjoyable to revisit. The 26 shops include exclusive items available only at this location, freshly made sweets from on-site kitchens, a restaurant where guests can enjoy carefully selected ingredients in a relaxed setting, and a rotating pop-up goods shop that changes its theme periodically.

POINT 2: Space Design Inspired by "KAMIYASH-IKI"

Space Design Rendering

Under Tokyo Station's design concept "Traditional + Innovation," GranSta expresses a new kind of Tokyo "iki" (style) where tradition meets innovation. For this renovation, the design theme is "designing a domain," drawing on the history of Edo-era Marunouchi and reinterpreting the upper residences ("Kamiyashiki") that once symbolized this land. The design motif, "KAMIYASH-IKI," weaves historical and traditional context into the space, creating a sense of depth through the passage of time.

A dynamic illuminated ceiling connects and expands the space, while delicate features along the upper walls of each shop add a layer of refinement.
