Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, the swimwear hot spring at 1297 Ninotaira, Hakone, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture, marked its 25th anniversary on New Year's Day 2026. This year it will again hold its annual "Beaujolais Nouveau Bath" for a limited time from Thursday, November 19, to Monday, November 23, 2026 (a national holiday), timed to the Beaujolais Nouveau release date on the third Thursday of November. A special tasting will be held on release day only.
Motoyu Mori no Yu, the authentic day-trip hot spring nearby, will offer a similar bath, the "Beaujolais Nouveau no Yu," with Beaujolais Nouveau poured into the tub. At Hakone Hotel Kowakien, the official hotel of Yunessun, the buffet restaurant "Fontainebleau" will hold an autumn sweets buffet.
Hakone is a highland resort close to central Tokyo, and the events offer a way to spend an autumn day among the autumn leaves with friends, family, or a partner.
Beaujolais Nouveau Bath at Yunessun
Yunessun has held the Beaujolais Nouveau Bath every year since 2005. This year it takes place at the "Super-Scenic Observation Open-Air Bath." From the bath, visitors can look out over the autumn leaves coloring the majestic mountain ranges of the Hakone outer rim, taking in Hakone's autumn with all five senses.
Up to twice a day, staff pour "Beaujolais Nouveau" (with no added antioxidants) into the bath. The wine comes from the négociant (the French term for a wine wholesaler) ジル・ド・ラモア (Jiru do Ramoa), known for winemaking that favors natural growing and brewing methods and for well-balanced wines. The bath takes on a vivid color and gives off a fruity, rich aroma.

Autumn Sweets Buffet at Hakone Hotel Kowakien
