To mark the exhibition "Vermeer: Girl with a Pearl Earring — A Masterpiece of 17th-Century Dutch Painting, a Miraculous Return to Japan," Western confectionery brand Henri Charpentier, operated by Suzette Holdings Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Nishinomiya, Hyogo), is releasing an original tin-boxed assortment created in collaboration with the famous painting.
Ahead of sales at the exhibition venue itself, the assortment goes on early sale at station and airport shops, offering a first taste of Vermeer's world before the exhibition opens.

In planning the product, the team considered that this exhibition could be the painting's last visit to Japan, and found themselves asking how best to welcome the girl now that she has come all this way — arriving at a feeling much like welcoming a treasured friend. With that in mind, the assortment brings together sweets that represent Henri Charpentier while also conveying a sense of Japan.
It combines three items that reflect both the brand's history and a sense of Japan: the madeleine, essential to the brand's own history; matcha, a symbol of Japanese culture; and chestnuts from Hyogo Prefecture, the birthplace of Henri Charpentier.
The girl in the painting can never actually taste them, but with that same spirit in mind, the assortment is meant for everyone visiting the exhibition and everyone who loves Vermeer's work.

For everyone looking forward to the exhibition, Henri Charpentier has prepared this assortment with care.
The star of the assortment is the madeleine, a beloved item since the brand's founding. It is shaped like a shell, evoking the "pearl earring" and echoing the exhibition's theme. Alongside it is the bite-sized baked sweet Petit Gâteau Assorti (Matcha), baked to a moist texture with quality matcha and white bean paste for a distinctly Japanese flavor. Rounding out the set is the 兵庫・丹波産 栗おどるマロンケーキ (Chestnut Marron Cake), made generously with Tamba chestnuts from Hyogo. Two of each are included, six pieces in total.
