Isuzu Chaya Hanshin Umeda Main Store (五十鈴茶屋 阪神梅田本店), a Japanese and Western confectionery shop run by Akafuku, will begin selling mitarashi dango (みたらし団子) on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. The dango are grilled at the shop, coated in a gently sweet soy sauce glaze, and packed into a box once the order is placed.

This past summer, an event held at Hanshin Umeda Main Store by Okage Yokocho (おかげ横丁) in Ise, which is operated by an Akafuku group company, drew a warm response for its mitarashi dango. Following that feedback, sales at Isuzu Chaya Hanshin Umeda Main Store are starting ahead of the shop's first anniversary.
What Makes the Dango Special
The dango are made with joshinko (上新粉), a flour made from domestically grown non-glutinous rice (uruchi rice). The dango bring out the flavor of the rice, and the toasty aroma from grilling them by hand at the shop, combined with the soy sauce glaze, makes for an addictive taste.
Packaging Exclusive to This Store
The wrapping paper over the box features a design inspired by the roof tiles of the Akafuku main store (赤福本店), which evoke Oharai-machi (おはらい町) in Ise. This packaging is available only at Isuzu Chaya Hanshin Umeda Main Store. The dango can be enjoyed as a snack at home or given as a gift to someone close.
