The Sanno-mura District: A Hidden Gem at 1,000m
The Sanno-mura district sits at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level and is recognized as one of Japan's "100 Hometown Landscapes" (にほんの里100選). The area preserves the atmosphere of traditional Japanese rural life, with old scenery remaining vividly intact. During the April opening period, the sweeping panorama of residual snow on the Northern Alps set against fresh greenery is the highlight of the visit. The clean mountain air and surrounding quiet offer a sense of openness that is hard to find in urban settings.

New for the 2026 Season
1. The Yamap Shindo: A New Hiking Trail to Mt. Tengai
A new hiking trail named the "Yamap Shindo" now connects the Sanno-mura Farm to the summit of Mt. Tengai (天蓋山). The summit, reached in approximately two hours, offers 360-degree views spanning the Northern Alps and Mt. Hakusan. After descending, visitors can head back to the farm for a meal — creating a "mountain hike + local cuisine" outdoor experience unique to Hida City.

2. New Bus Stop for Car-Free Visits
A new "Sanno-mura Farm" bus stop has been established, making the farm accessible by public transportation for the first time. Visitors arriving by bus can now fully enjoy the farm's signature homemade sausage buffet alongside a cold beer while taking in the mountain scenery.

3. Animal Encounters
The farm also offers hands-on interactions with goats, rabbits, and guinea pigs, as well as horse riding experiences. These activities give families and visitors a direct feel for the natural richness of the Hida region through all five senses.
