Hoshinoya Fuji Brings Back Winter Glamping with Tent Sauna and Campfire Activities from December 2026

Hoshinoya Fuji, Japan's first glamping resort, located in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture, will hold its "Winter Glamping" program from December 3, 2026 to March 2, 2027. The program invites guests to be wrapped in the warmth of nature amid the stillness of winter. Two activities debut this winter: "Circulating Warmth: Winter Forest Grounding," which pairs a tent sauna with forest bathing to loosen up body and mind, and "Smoky Savory S'mores," a campfire-grilled treat served with hot beer. Through outdoor activities that make the most of winter's quiet and warmth, the resort offers a stay for refreshing body and mind.

In the cold of winter, people tend to spend more time indoors and can become withdrawn, according to a Panasonic survey. Hoshinoya Fuji focuses on the clear air and quiet surroundings that can only be found in winter, and proposes glamping experiences that involve moving the body outdoors. In a hushed forest, guests can feel the clear air, the heat of a campfire, and the scent of herbs, refreshing the senses and spending time relaxing in nature away from the bustle of everyday life.

Circulating Warmth: Winter Forest Grounding (New)

After warming up in the sauna, guests enjoy forest bathing barefoot

This activity combines the heat of a tent sauna with forest bathing in the winter woods to loosen up body and mind. In a tent set up in the forest, guests sit in a sauna filled with steam scented with plants native to the northern foot of Mount Fuji to warm up. Afterward, they head outdoors barefoot for grounding, feeling the needle ice and fallen leaves with their bare feet. Guests then return to the sauna to warm up once more and finish the contrast of hot and cold over a hot drink.

  • Price: ¥15,000

Forest Moments: Wild Coffee Around the Campfire

Wild coffee simmered over a campfire

In the forest, where soft afternoon light filters through the trees, guests can enjoy a rustic cup of coffee brewed boldly over a campfire. Coarsely ground coffee is added directly to a kettle over an open flame and slowly simmered to draw out its flavor, resulting in a special cup with a fruity, berry-like aroma and rich body. The warm coffee is paired with a "Berry Gâteau Chocolat," which combines the depth of cacao with the sweet-tart taste of fruit. Surrounded by the crackle of firewood and flickering flames, guests can savor the rich depth of coffee and chocolate in a calm moment.

  • Hours: 2:30 PM–5:30 PM
  • Price: Free

Smoky Savory S'mores with Hot Beer (New)

Deer pâté and dried fruit grilled over a campfire fueled by peach wood

"Smoky Savory S'mores" is served in the night forest, where a glowing red campfire flickers. Inspired by the preserved-food wisdom that Japanese people have passed down since ancient times to get through harsh winters, guests grill deer pâté, dried fruit, and cheese over the campfire. Hot beer, which pairs well with the smoky flavor and saltiness, is also available. After dinner, it offers a special time for adults on a quiet, long winter night.

  • Hours: 7:30 PM–9:30 PM (last order 9:00 PM)
  • Price: ¥1,600
  • Reservation: Not required
  • Eligibility: Ages 20 and older

Forest Hideaway Lounge: Board Games at an Outdoor Kotatsu

The Forest Hideaway Lounge, where guests can relax at a kotatsu

The "Forest Hideaway Lounge," where guests can relax at an outdoor kotatsu (a heated low table with a blanket), appears on the Dappled Sunlight Deck. It is a unique space for settling into a kotatsu while feeling the clear outdoor air. An original non-alcoholic cocktail that warms the body is prepared: a special hot-sangria-style drink scented with spices such as cinnamon and ginger. Guests can enjoy board games with a glass in hand. This playful, limited-time lounge lets guests take in the quiet and beauty of a winter night.

  • Hours: 8:00 PM–9:30 PM
  • Price: Free
  • Reservation: Not required

Early Morning Cabin Terrace: Painting the Winter Scenery on a Postcard

Relaxing while taking in the superb view from the cabin terrace (guest room)

For winter only, a kotatsu is set up on an open terrace with sweeping views. In the crisp winter air, watching the morning scenery change from moment to moment, wrapped in stillness and warmth, is a special experience. Guests wake their bodies with an original herbal tea that carries a hint of forest freshness, then use watercolor pencils to color the lake surface and trees glittering in the morning sun, and put the scene on a postcard.
