Summer Beetle-Catching Event Starts July 18 at Fuji Subaru Land

Fuji Subaru Land, located at the base of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi, is kicking off its popular annual summer event "カブトムシ狩り" (Beetle Catching) on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Set in a specially designated outdoor area surrounded by forest, the experience lets participants search for Japanese rhinoceros beetles hiding in tree bark and under stumps.

Any beetles caught can be taken home in the included insect cage. For those who come up empty-handed, there is a guarantee of taking home one male and one female rhinoceros beetle regardless. Beyond the thrill of the hunt, children can continue the experience at home by raising the beetles and observing their growth — making it an easy and engaging topic for school summer holiday research projects.
