Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street Launches 3-Night "THE ART OF HERITAGE" Stay Plan

Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street (南山手, Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture; General Manager: Hideyuki Niwa), a luxury lifestyle hotel that carries forward Nagasaki's history and culture, will offer a special 3-night, 4-day stay plan from June 23, 2026 (Tuesday). The plan combines visits to 潜龍酒造 (Senryu Shuzo), a historic sake brewery that once presented prized sake to the Hirado Domain during the Edo period, and 三川内焼 (Mikawachi-yaki), a porcelain tradition that developed as the official kiln of the Hirado Domain.

The plan begins on day one with a relaxing stay in a suite room in the main building, a heritage structure where guests can enjoy the historic architecture and a tranquil atmosphere. On day two, guests visit 潜龍酒造 to tour the 本陣屋敷「枕水舎」 (Honjinya-shikii "Chinsuisha"), the historic residence where the domain lord once stayed during his Sankin-kotai processions, as well as the 酛蔵 (moto-gura), a designated Nagasaki Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property. The visit includes a tasting experience tracing more than 330 years of sake-making history. In the evening, guests enjoy a special dinner at Restaurant Cathedréclat, a restaurant that makes use of a space that served as a chapel for over 120 years. One course in the dinner features a special dish recreated with a contemporary sensibility based on records of meals once served to feudal lords, served in 三川内焼 vessels. The white porcelain of 三川内焼 — harmonizing with the predominantly white interior — enhances the appeal of both the food and sake.

On day three, guests visit kilns of 三川内焼, a tradition said to have been presented to the Shogunate, various domain lords, and even the Imperial family. The day includes tours of normally inaccessible workshops and a 染付 (sometsuke, cobalt-blue underglaze painting) hands-on experience, allowing guests to appreciate the craftsmen's skills and the beauty of white porcelain. Day four concludes with breakfast and checkout.

About 潜龍酒造 (Senryu Shuzo)

Founded in 1688 (the first year of the Genroku era), 潜龍酒造 has continued its sake-making traditions for over 300 years. Established on the orders of the Hirado Domain, its sake was highly regarded as a tribute to the domain lords, and it has been passed down alongside the region's culture. Within its grounds, several historically significant buildings remain, including the 本陣屋敷, where the domain lord once stayed during his Sankin-kotai processions, and the 酛蔵, which retains the appearance of the brewery's founding days. Drawing on pure water and time-honored techniques, the sake produced here is characterized by a mellow, deep flavor.

About 平戸洸祥団右ヱ門窯 (Hirado Kosho Dan'uemon Kiln)

平戸洸祥団右ヱ門窯 is a kiln that has carried forward the traditions of 三川内焼 for 18 generations. Built on the foundation of translucent white porcelain and refined 染付, it has inherited highly skilled techniques including 平戸菊花飾細工 (Hirado chrysanthemum petal decoration), in which each petal is finished by hand. This precise artistry is highly regarded as one of the signature skills of 三川内焼. The kiln pursues craftsmanship that harmonizes tradition with contemporary sensibility, bringing back the elegant designs of former times.

About 平戸松山窯 (Hirado Shozan Kiln)

平戸松山窯 is a kiln preserving the 三川内焼 tradition inherited from the Edo period. Continuing the 染付 and white porcelain techniques from the era of the Hirado Domain's official kiln, it upholds traditional designs including 唐子絵 (Karako-e, paintings of Chinese children) and 祥瑞文様 (Shonzui patterns). The delicate paintings on translucent white porcelain are a symbol of the beauty of 三川内焼. Through craftsmanship that harmonizes tradition and innovation, the kiln continues to convey an aesthetic sensibility that transcends the ages.
