The Kamakura Torchlight Noh Performance has been held on the grounds of Kamakura-gu Shrine since 1959. Performed outdoors by the light of burning firewood, the solemn atmosphere of the shrine together with the glow of the flames adds depth to the staging, drawing the audience into a fantastical world.
The plan's biggest appeal is that it goes on sale ahead of general ticket sales and guarantees an "S-seat," the viewing seats closest to the stage, where the performers' breath, subtle gestures, and even the crackling of the bonfire can be felt up close — a special autumn night in Kamakura as darkness falls.
