Hotel New Otani (Tokyo) will open its outdoor pool "GARDEN POOL" for a limited five-day run from Saturday, May 2 to Wednesday, May 6, 2026, during the Golden Week holiday. Surrounded by the hotel's 10,000-tsubo Japanese garden, the pool is one of the largest outdoor pools in central Tokyo. Guests staying at the hotel during this period can use the GARDEN POOL at no extra charge throughout their stay.

Golden Week in 2026 spans anywhere from five to twelve consecutive days depending on how one arranges time off. According to data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, Tokyo already recorded "summer day" temperatures (above 25°C) during last year's Golden Week period, and temperatures in April and May this year are again forecast to run above average. The GARDEN POOL will operate as a heated pool throughout the event period, keeping guests comfortable regardless of daily temperature fluctuations.
A shallow toddler pool — approximately 50 cm deep and about 7 m in diameter in a semicircular shape — will also be available, making the pool area accessible for families with small children.

Frozen Art Performance on May 4 and 5

On Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5 (both national holidays), the hotel will host "Frozen Art Garden Pool," a live ice sculpture performance by the hotel's dedicated ice sculptor, Koichi Hirata. Hirata has claimed the championship title at international ice sculpture competitions 19 times, and won the gold award at the "National Ice Sculpture Championship" held in Matsumoto, Nagano, in January 2026. Guests can watch a block of clear ice transform into intricate art, accompanied by the dynamic sounds of a chainsaw, starting at 1:00 PM. The performance will be cancelled in the event of rain.
Poolside Dining at OUTRIGGER

Adjacent to the GARDEN POOL, the poolside dining venue "OUTRIGGER" will also be open throughout the pool period. The menu features resort-style dishes including burgers, alongside a selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks crafted by in-house bartenders. Guests can come in wearing their swimwear.
