Hotel New Otani Tokyo Opens Its Secret Red Rose Garden to Guests This Golden Week

Hotel New Otani Tokyo is hosting the Red Rose Garden Special Month from April 25 (Saturday) through May 31 (Sunday), 2026. During this period, the hotel's rooftop garden — filled with approximately 30,000 red roses across about 30 varieties — will be opened to select guests on a limited basis.

In conjunction with the garden opening, the hotel is also launching accommodation plans and restaurant plans that include garden admission tickets, along with Golden Week family activities.

30,000 Roses in Full Bloom for Golden Week

The Red Rose Garden at Hotel New Otani Tokyo was established in November 2000 as part of a rooftop greening initiative, under the supervision of Kenneth Turner — a globally renowned floral decorator known for his work with the British Royal Family. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, around 30,000 red roses bloom across approximately 30 varieties, creating an impressive display that has delighted many visitors over the years.

During Golden Week, spring-blooming varieties will come into full color, adorning the garden's gazebo and rose arches with flowers throughout the space.

The Red Rose Garden is normally only accessible to New Otani Club members and guests participating in select plans or events, making it a well-kept secret spot known to relatively few. This special month brings several ways to enjoy the garden, from afternoon tea experiences to luxury overnight stays.

Afternoon Tea in an English Garden — 2 Days Only

The popular Afternoon Tea at Red Rose Garden event, which sells out every season, will be held for just two days. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea on the wooden deck overlooking the Red Rose Garden. Surrounded by the spring sunshine and deep crimson roses, the menu features the hotel's signature Super Melon Shortcake alongside seasonal fruit sweets, special fruit sandwiches, and a variety of savory sandwiches. Each session is limited to 20 guests, so early reservations are recommended.

Note: In the event of rain, the Red Rose Garden will be closed. Dining will be moved to the New Otani Club Lounge or a banquet room.

Lunch Plan with Garden Entry — Weekdays Only

For those who want to experience both the roses and the hotel's dining in a single day, a weekday-only lunch plan bundled with Red Rose Garden admission is available. Guests can choose from 10 restaurants, including Garden Lounge's early-summer sweets buffet featuring strawberry, matcha, and mango themes, and VIEW & DINING THE SKY's buffet with Japanese, Western, Chinese, and dessert options and 360-degree panoramic views.

Guests staying on this plan can enter the Red Rose Garden with their admission tickets, receive priority booking for children's daily activities (some at additional cost, advance reservation required), and use the outdoor pool "GARDEN POOL" — one of the largest hotel outdoor pools in the Tokyo area — at no extra charge. Limited-Edition Cookie Tin from Patisserie SATSUKI

Patisserie SATSUKI is releasing a limited-time rose version of its popular gift sweets. When the lid is opened, delicate rose meringues inspired by the Red Rose Garden are revealed. From May 1 (Friday) through May 10 (Sunday), 2026, a special edition featuring an iced cookie with a personalized message in the center will also be available. May 10 is Mother's Day, making this an option for those who have visited the garden and want to extend the memory.

Early Access for New Otani Club Members

New Otani Club members can enter the garden at any time during the event period. Additionally, from April 25 (Saturday) through May 6 (Wednesday/Holiday), 2026, the garden will be opened in advance exclusively to guests on eligible plans and New Otani Club members, offering a quieter, more spacious visit during a more exclusive window.

Guests who have submitted a New Otani Club membership application can enter the garden before their card is issued by presenting the completed application form.
