Hotel Nikko Alivila Serves Up Summer Afternoon Tea Inspired by Tropical Fruits and Okinawa Skies

From June 1 to August 31, 2026, lounge "Ariacara" at Hotel Nikko Alivila in Yomitan, Okinawa, will offer the Alivila Birdcage Afternoon Tea during the summer event period titled "el sol" — Spanish for "the sun." The seasonal menu celebrates summer scenery and tropical fruits across three elaborate plates, served on the lounge's signature approximately 140 cm original tea stand inspired by the birdcage décor and interior of Ariacara.

The menu features a blue sky jelly, tropical fruit sweets, and colorful savoury items that evoke the sights and flavors of an Okinawan summer. Guests can enjoy the limited menu alongside a selection of more than 20 drinks in the relaxed atmosphere of Ariacara, whose name means "gentle air."

1st Plate

The 1st plate features savoury items inspired by the image of the "sun." The Carrot and Sweet Potato Flan, styled after a mai tai cocktail, pairs a carrot flan with diced sweet potato that evokes ice, garnished with a grissini in the shape of a straw. The Vegetable Quiche is packed with two types of bell pepper, eggplant, zucchini, and other vegetables. The Red Sandwich — nicknamed "Red Sun" — uses beet-colored mini roll bread filled with tomato, beer salami, red cheddar cheese, and marinated red cabbage for a thoroughly sun-inspired presentation.

2nd Plate

The 2nd plate highlights the natural sweetness and tartness of tropical fruits. The Pineapple Petit Tart features coconut liqueur and lime zest aromas that bring out the refreshing flavor of pineapple. The Mango Pudding is paired with a coconut sauce, while the Acerola Macaron is filled with acerola-flavored buttercream for a distinctly Okinawan tropical taste.
