Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto, in the Shijo Karasuma area at the heart of Kyoto, will begin taking reservations on Thursday, October 1, 2026 for Christmas cakes and stollen made by its hotel pastry chefs.
This year's lineup has three Christmas cakes, including a new creation, and a stollen sold at the hotel, plus one cake sold exclusively at Daimaru Kyoto. The new Coffret de Noël (コフレ・ド・ノエル) is a chocolate box styled as a jewelry box and packed with Amaou strawberries. The lineup also includes the Fraise de Noël (フレイズ・ド・ノエル), a shortcake that balances sweetness and acidity, and the Bûche de Noël (ブッシュ・ド・ノエル), which was well received last year. The Daimaru Kyoto-exclusive Princess Noël (プリンセス・ノエル) is a classic shortcake with a decorative finish, and the stollen is made with the hotel's original recipe. In all, five Christmas sweets are available.
Christmas Cake 2026 Lineup
Coffret de Noël (コフレ・ド・ノエル)
¥16,000 / approx. 15 cm x 15 cm x 11.5 cm high / Limited to 5 cakes

A new cake this year that uses plenty of Amaou strawberries. Raspberry chocolate and white chocolate form a marble jewelry box, which is filled with Amaou strawberries and raspberries. Inside is a shortcake made with a sponge baked with Kyoto-produced eggs, layered in two tiers with whipped cream and sliced Amaou strawberries. The mild sweetness of the cream brings out the rich sweetness and acidity of the strawberries. The glossy fruit shines like jewels in this creation by the pastry chefs.
Fraise de Noël (フレイズ・ド・ノエル)
¥4,800 / approx. 12 cm in diameter

A shortcake with a fine-textured sponge made with Kyoto-produced eggs, layered in two tiers with smooth whipped cream and strawberries, designed for a balance of sweetness and acidity. White feathers and gold chocolate decorations on top give it a festive Christmas look.
Bûche de Noël (ブッシュ・ド・ノエル)
¥4,200 / approx. 16.5 cm long x 7.5 cm wide

A moist, cocoa-flavored sponge is rolled around chocolate cream and caramel chocolate ganache, and decorated with chocolate pieces modeled on Christmas ornaments. The bitterness of the caramel adds an accent to the rich chocolate flavor.
Stollen (シュトーレン)
¥2,800 / approx. 17.5 cm long x 7 cm wide

A butter-rich dough is combined with spices and dried fruit soaked in liquor, then baked moist. The pleasant aroma of the spices brings out the flavor of the ingredients and lingers in the mouth.
