Hyatt Regency Kyoto Hosts World Champion Neapolitan Pizza Event

Hyatt Regency Kyoto is hosting a special event at its Italian restaurant "Trattoria Sette," welcoming Akinari Pasquale Makishima as guest chef. Makishima, owner-chef of the renowned Nagoya establishment "Pizzeria Braceria Cesari!!" holds the prestigious title of 2010 Neapolitan Pizza Chef World Championship S.T.G. Division champion.

This limited-time collaboration brings Neapolitan pizza crafted with skills and sensibilities honed in Naples directly to Kyoto. The event features special pizzas designed by Chef Makishima for Valentine's Day and White Day set menus, along with two à la carte pizzas including his signature creations available for approximately one month.

Pizza Amore - half and half special pizza

Pizza Amore (Half & Half: Champion Pizza with Truffle Mushroom Pizza)

A heart-shaped special pizza designed by world champion Akinari Makishima exclusively for Valentine's Day. This sharing-style creation combines his award-winning Margherita made with buffalo mozzarella and a truffle-scented mushroom pizza, perfect for enjoying together.

On February 14th (dinner) and February 15th (lunch), Chef Makishima will personally prepare each pizza.

A half & half combination featuring Margherita made with buffalo mozzarella and a special pizza inspired by "mimosa," the flower that Italian men traditionally give to women as a gesture of gratitude. This vibrant creation featuring Americaine sauce, lobster, and boiled eggs brings elegance to White Day celebrations.

Limited-Time À La Carte Pizzas

A classic pizza beloved as a Neapolitan winter staple. Friarielli, a slightly bitter winter vegetable, is sautéed with garlic and oil, then paired with flavorful salsiccia. This seasonal creation captures the essence of Neapolitan food culture.

Akinari Pasquale Makishima

After training at a prestigious Neapolitan establishment, Makishima competed in the Neapolitan Pizza Chef World Championship. In 2010, he won the Pizzaiolo Napoletano S.T.G. (Main) Division. That same year, the Neapolitan artisan association appointed him "World Ambassador of Neapolitan Pizza." He has since received additional honors including "Ambassador of Pizza and Culture" from Naples City and "Nagoya Tourism Ambassador" from Nagoya City. He currently operates eight restaurants centered in Nagoya, including "Pizzeria Braceria Cesari!!" Drawing on his world championship experience, he continues promoting Neapolitan pizza culture throughout Japan.
