The first Kansai location of nama donut specialty shop "I'm donut?" will open on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Kyoto's Shijo-Kawaramachi area. The shop is operated by peace put Co., Ltd., which also runs the Fukuoka-based bakery "AMAM DACOTAN."
At I'm donut? Kyoto, customers can enjoy signature products like the "I'm donut? Original" along with popular standard items, plus approximately 10 new Kyoto-exclusive donut varieties. The shop will offer around 40 different types of donuts in total. Special offerings include "Rare Donuts" made with rare brioche dough containing banana that debuted at "AMAM DACOTAN Kyoto," as well as "wa" (Japanese-style) inspired donuts using matcha, hojicha, and black sesame in the dough, and savory donuts incorporating Kyoto vegetables.
The interior concept is "spacey." In contrast to the product lineup that incorporates Kyoto's traditional Japanese atmosphere, the spacious eat-in area features a futuristic, space-inspired innovative design.
Kyoto is considered a unique city that possesses history and tradition symbolizing Japanese culture, while also welcoming visitors from around the world where cultures blend together. Through this opening, the shop aims to bring a fresh new element to this city where tradition and innovation coexist, creating a store that can be enjoyed not only by Kyoto residents but also by domestic and international visitors as a new attraction.
"Wa"-Inspired Limited New Products

As "wa"-inspired products, a new "Black Sesame Brioche" nama donut dough containing black sesame makes its debut at the Kyoto store. The "Black Sesame Nama French Cruller" made with this dough offers a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture while allowing the full flavor of black sesame to spread throughout the mouth. Additionally, the "Coconut Warabi" combines donut dough containing hojicha with coconut and house-made warabi mochi, offering a unique fusion of Japanese and Western styles with diverse textures.
Other offerings include the "Mitarashi" with plenty of mitarashi glaze that's been flame-torched, the "Spacey" featuring marble patterns with chocolate coating inspired by the store concept, and savory donuts using Kyoto vegetables such as "Kyoto Eggplant Soboro-an" and "Kujo Negi and Chicken Breast with Yuzu Kosho Sesame Sauce" that showcase unique ingredient combinations reflecting the Italian chef background of owner Hirako.
The "Rare Donuts" that debuted at AMAM DACOTAN Kyoto, featuring banana-infused dough for a rare texture, will also be available in new varieties including "Rare Donut Chocolate" with cocoa mixed in, plus the first-ever permanent menu item "Matcha Soft Cream." The soft cream is made from an original recipe developed by Hirako from scratch, achieving rich matcha aroma and deep sweetness, specially crafted to pair perfectly with nama donuts.
Many popular donuts from existing stores will also be available, creating a lineup that offers new discoveries and excitement with every visit.

The Kyoto store interior takes a departure from traditional Kyoto imagery, adopting an open and spacey spatial design. Unified with simple yet refined stainless steel-based design, the space uses lighting effects and other elements to create an extraordinary environment that overturns conventional donut shop images.
The shop also features a spacious cafe area, enabling both takeout and eat-in options. Customers can enjoy carefully crafted nama donuts alongside approximately 20 different drinks based on matcha and hojicha.
A self-service style allows customers to select their own products, letting them experience the "joy of choosing" while viewing the many displayed donuts. The space offers a special donut experience away from daily routine, set in a uniquely space-inspired environment.
Owner Hirako Ryota's Comments
"We have received many requests to open in the Kansai region. I am very pleased to be able to open I'm donut? in Kyoto following AMAM DACOTAN, responding to those wishes.
We have developed many new limited donuts using ingredients unique to Kyoto. I hope more customers will be able to enjoy 'nama donuts.'
The interior design deliberately contrasts with Kyoto's traditional character, finished like a spaceship that has landed. While I hope customers enjoy this 'irregular' approach, I also wish for the shop to naturally blend into the city over time and become an indispensable part of Kyoto's streetscape."
