Kanmidokoro Tabigori Opens in Kyoto's Pontocho on April 3

A new Japanese sweets shop, Kanmidokoro Tabigori, is set to open in Kyoto's historic Pontocho district on April 3, 2026 (Friday). The menu features seasonal shaved ice supervised by Sakanoue Cafe, a popular shaved ice specialty shop in Yushima, Tokyo.

Kyoto is a city known for both sweltering summers and cold winters. Nestled among its historic streetscapes are many cafes and kissaten (Japanese-style coffee shops) where visitors can take a quiet rest.

Kanmidokoro Tabigori opens in Pontocho, a neighborhood where history and tranquility remain palpable. The menu includes shaved ice supervised by Sakanoue Cafe from Yushima, Tokyo, alongside light café-style bites such as hotcakes and pizza toast, as well as cream soda, coffee, and other drinks.

The shaved ice lineup features seasonal offerings that change with the seasons — spring, summer, autumn, and winter (Seasonal Shaved Ice, ¥2,200 to ¥2,640) — as well as the Strawberry Mascarpone (¥2,640) and Matcha (¥2,640).
